Metro PetFood began in 2016 in a rented kitchen under a railway arch, with one beagle who would not eat anything from a bag. Today thirty-eight of us cook, bake and pack every recipe by hand, a mile from Tower Bridge.

From farm to bowl

One week in our kitchen

  1. Monday

    The farms deliver

    Chicken, lamb and beef arrive from named British farms; salmon from a Scottish fishery.

  2. Tuesday

    We cook

    Slow-cooked in small batches below 90°C, the way you would at home.

  3. Wednesday

    We bake

    Kibble and biscuits go through the oven; chew sticks are rolled and air-dried.

  4. Thursday

    We test

    A sample of every batch is checked in the lab before a single bag is filled.

  5. Friday

    We pack and ship

    Bags, tins and jars leave London for shops, vets and groomers.

A message from our founder

Biscuit still checks every batch

When I started, I only wanted my own dog to enjoy his dinner. I cooked what I would eat myself - proper meat, real vegetables, nothing I could not pronounce - and the neighbours started asking for a tub.
We are bigger now, but the rules have not changed. If we would not serve it to Biscuit, it does not go in a bag with our name on it. Thank you for trusting us with your dog’s bowl.
