Joining the school

Five steps, about six weeks from first enquiry to offer. Nothing here is designed to catch anybody out.
The process

Five steps

    Come and look

An open morning, or a private visit on any school day. No forms yet.

  4. Step 4

    Offer

Sent within two weeks, with any bursary award included so you can see the real number.

  5. Step 5

    Accept

Questions

What families ask us

Do you take pupils mid-year?
Yes, where there is a place. Mid-year entry is assessed the same way but on a date that suits you, usually within a fortnight of enquiry.
How competitive is entry?
At the main entry points we typically assess around two applicants per place. We are looking for a child who will thrive here, not for the highest score in the room.
What happens if my child does not get a place?
You will get a phone call before the letter arrives, and an honest explanation. We will also tell you if we think a later entry point would suit better.
Can we apply for a bursary and a scholarship?
Yes, and they stack. Scholarships are awarded on merit and are a fixed percentage; bursaries are means-tested and cover what is left.
Is the assessment tutored-for?
We hope not. The papers are designed to show how a child thinks rather than what they have been drilled on, and we tell families every year not to pay for tutoring.
Do you have a waiting list?
Yes, and it moves. Places come up through the summer as families relocate, so a waiting-list place is worth holding.
